Hair inspo

I hate my hair right now. I can't even remember when I had my last haircut, and that is never a good sign. The "style" (if it can be called that) is a bunch of growing out layers with absolutely no shape or form, and the ends are so dry and damaged and need a good chop. I've been putting off going to the hairdresser's because I was so indecisive what I wanted but now I've made an appointment beginning of November so I've been looking at tons of hairstyles. I'm sadly no closer to making a final decision so I thought I'd get your feedback. This is only for the cuts, not colour.

I like this Kate Beckinsale style although it does look somewhat boring too.

I think this one looks cute but it's shorter than I'd like but the form is really fun and versatile.

I love this cut but again, I'd keep the ends longer than this.

Love this! Although my hair would need some major hot roller action to get this exact style.

I love this edgy, badgirl kind of style. I actually used to have my hair like this for a while in uni, but I think for now I don't want to get bangs/fringe again.

Sexy and sweet and innocent all at the same time - but again maybe a bit too boring for my tastes.

Very dated color job but the cut is so pretty and feminine.

I love Blake Lively's hair - although I think hers is a lot of extensions.

What do you think? Or do you have any other great pics or ideas?

Hi Julia! I think the Kate Bekinsale one would look great on you, the one in the second picture. I think it would be very easy to style using your ghd to get the wavy ends, and you hair color is already great for that look! Anyway, whatever style you finally choose, I´m sure you are going to look great

I like #4 the most. It looks very now, and would look good straight and wavy. Best of luck!

I love Blake Lively's hair and you looked great in your "young hollywood hair" tut. I also like the straight cut in pic #4 but that means you'll need to straighten quite often, which is damaging on the long term.

I love the 3rd and 4th picture, and I think you could do them in a longer version and they would be so versatile. I recently cut my hair similarly and I'm really happy with it!

I really like the edgy cut. But also I like the one above it and and the blake lively one. I think those maybe more versatile as to the edgy one. Im a fan of Penelope Cruz's hair style and Jessica Szhor's also.

J'adore les cheveux de Blake Lively aussi! Et j'avais lu un article où elle disait qu'elle avait des extensions.

What if you compromised between the Kate Beckinsale styles and the choppy, shorter styles from the edgier photos? Maybe get lots of layers with a wide range of lengths? Then you have a lot more versatility between curls, poker-straight/flat iron, waves, etc. Though with your bone structure and pretty eyes, I'm not sure you could make a bad choice with these styles! :)

I like pic #4 a lot. I'm hoping my hair grows out to look like that. I cut my hair about 4 months ago and its mid way to my shoulders now. Though i dont think i will get the same look because my hair is really thick i might have to thin my hair out to get it.

I would like to vote for kate beckingsale. It seems it's the best of 3 worlds: a bit of a curl, a bit of a fringe, and lots of length and texture

I like the blake lively, the sexy'n'inocent and the dark straight haircut on the girl with heavy eyeliner. :) I hate my hair too, and have so for ages - maybe that's just the way it has be for me. hehe. But it also depends on how much work you put into your hair everyday and the texture off it and shape of your face. :) (but probably already know that). Anyway, I really like your young hollywood hair tutorial and you looked stunning, so we know that a blake lively look works on ya! ;) I always go to dailymakeover.com if I need any inspiration on hair.

Hope this helps - love your vids!!

5th pic is my favorite too. I think it would be great for you and you wouldn't necessarily have to use the hot rollers. You could use the curling iron w the glove.

Number 5.

Anonymous
at: 8:33 pm said...

I would choose # 4 and 6. The rest of the pictures are basically just the same, despite the various lengths and colour. They have the parting in the middle and some layers. They're all curled, loose or tight but I would get a haircut that can still look fun and not boring if you don't choose to curl your hair. Picture 4 has sexy long side bangs and medium layers. With added length to it and volume, this style will look very cute and sexy even if it's straight or without major curling if you're rushed in the morning. Blow dry and go. So simple. Picture 6 I especially like because I personally think bangs or side swept bangs look cute on everyone. You can part the bangs on the side to bring attention to your cheekbones or part it in the middle to draw attention to your eyes. The various all over lengths of layers can be fun if you want to mess it up, like in the picture, can look sleek when straightened, and perfect for beach waves or any waves. You can even grow the hair length without the style being messed up. The only draw back with short layers would be the need to use bobby pins if you choose to put your hair up. I hope this helps! :)

simpleagent says:
at: 9:35 pm said...

I like the lengths in #3 and #4. But to be honest, I think you've kind of decided on what style and length you want already. The cuts in all of these photos are basically the same or very similar - long layers all over with some shorter face framing ones (except Kate's, she just has long layers). If you get your hair cut that way, you can pretty much style it to look like any of these girls. You just have to decide how short you want the front pieces, and I like #4 for that.

Hey girl! I already have something similar to number 4 without the thinner bottom because I have so much hair haha.. But I love it! I am actually going in today to make the front a little thicker so its more prominent! I love this style because it is completely versatile without forcing one to have shorter bangs and it works with my naturally stick straight hair as well as looks gorgeous curly! I think you'll love it!

The image second from the last (I believe) where you said the color was a bit dated... The cut is a diaster to live with! I had an exact dupe of this style and it wound up being sooo much more trouble than it was worth.

The problem with the cut (once executed) is that it looks like an incomplete style. I can usually find the time to style my hair but even on days when I just 'let it go', the style still came off looking like I started to get a shorter cut - but didn't have the nerve to follow through. Ponytails had the bob part of the cut fall loose first, leaving sort of an uneven effect, and the bob part fell forward over my shoulders making it look like I had short hair unless I carefull took the time to actually pull my longer layers over my sholders to show I had length as wee (which is also what the model had to do in this pic too!). Ultimately, it got to the point that I had it chopped even (with the shortest layers) and was much happier until it grew out a little more evenly.

The cut on the blond (just below Kate) would be my favorite style for you. I love the flexibility of the layers and the overall shape will compliment your face much better than the longer layers. Longer layers tend to drag a face downward. If you're aiming for a look to lighten and add life to your face (while adding youthful texture) this range of cuts, in my opinion, will yield the best (and happiest) results in the end!! :))

I also love the one u say u'll have to use the hot roller. semms u r sticking to wavy hair why not just straight n in layers. like this one:

I actually like the edgy one with the bangs...The other ones seem too "regular girl" to me. I would always like the wildest cut, I'm afraid...

Maybe you could spice up whichever cut you end up getting with some color (Never ever blond in my opinion)

Anonymous
at: 3:32 am said...

whatever you choose, I think that those hair pictures are: a)made for special occasions(event, photo-shoot)& are/might be photoshopped as well; b) you have to spend some time to get the result, so be prepared to do that. c) as you mentioned, some of those looks are made from hairpieces.
So use your own judgment, but don't cut your hair short. just my five cents...

Asia says:

Hi Julia, I think the third or fith one are awesome. I got something simmilar going on but with shorter bangs. The shorter bangs help you play with it more and look good even when they're growing out :)

I'm actually the opposite of yours, mine is curly and i do go through the same issue, nothing looks good on it so I resort to heating tools to help me shape it.

Don't be afraid, you're very cute, I'm sure anything would look good on you :)
