Tutorial: Brandy inspired

This tutorial is inspired by Brand's latest music video, "Put It Down". One of the looks she wore in the video was this fantastically stunning smokey makeup that just looked so sultry and alluring. After watching the video a few dozen times on full-screen, I could make out that a silver-charcoal shadow was used on her lid, and some smokey browns to blend it out. Since Brandy has a darker complexion, the brown shadows obviously looks a lot more subtle than on my own fair skin, but I wanted to recreate the look as closely as possible.

Her lips were kept a glossy nude shade, her face was contoured and brightened up with a rosy blush, and lashes were used on top and bottom.

Here's my spin on this look.

Want to see how I did it? Then watch my video tutorial below!

L'Oreal Visible Lift cream foundation, Bobbi Brown Shimmerbrick in Peony, MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Shimpagne

I absolutely love this look! I actually think i'm going to attempt recreating it for my first day of school>

Quick question? Where did you use the copperplate Shadow, because you don't mention it in the tutorial.

Thanks!

Hello, Julia! I've been enjoying your tutorials for several months (I especially enjoy the ones you did w/ your Mom, she's delightful!). Thanks so much for doing them! I'm in my early 50's and stopped wearing makeup for several years, but you've inspired me to attempt a more polished look! I'm wondering if you could do a "nude eye" tutorial. I'm very fair, blonde/grey hair. Would love to see what colors would go well w/ that. Thanks so much, look forward to more videos!

Dear Miss Chievious,

I just wanted to thank you so much for your brilliant, easy to follow makeup tutorials. I am a freelance makeup artist (mainly for brides). I have to give you all the credit for saving the day! My bride wanted a dark smoky eye. This is hard to make look good for a bride without being overdone. Well, the wedding was today and I stumbled upon your Brandy tutorial LAST NIGHT! Thank goodness I did, i followed you step by step and my bride was thrilled with the results!

Thanks for sharing your talent with us!
